Why every woman can relate to the reason Jennifer Lawrence went for her 'Plan B' Golden Globe dress
Jennifer Lawrence is the one Hollywood star who you can always rely on to give refreshingly honest quotes in an interview, and she doesn't disappoint in her latest cover interview with Harper's Bazaar in which she talks about being sick in front of Emma Stone and feeling bloated on the red carpet.
At the Golden Globes this year Lawrence wore a red column gown by Dior, with cut-outs at the waist. This might look like a glamorous, body-hugging option to most of us, but this was Lawrence's red carpet equivalent of that-time-of-the-month jeans. "That was my plan-B dress," she says in the interview. "Plan A was a dress that I couldn't wear because awards season is synced with my menstrual cycle, and it has been for years."
Feeling bloated and bleurgh (that's a technical term, we think you'll agree), Lawrence turned to the red. "It was loose at the front. And I didn't have to worry about sucking anything in. The other dress was really tight, and I'm not going to suck in my uterus. I don't have to do that."

In yet further proof that Lawrence isn't afraid to speak the truth, the 25-year-old actress also speaks openly to Harpers Bazaar about how she finds it ridiculous that she is often referred to as the 'curvy one in Hollywood.' "I would like us to make a new normal-body type," she says. "Everybody says, 'We love that there is somebody with a normal body!' And I'm like, 'I don't feel like I have a normal body.' I do Pilates every day. I eat, but I work out a lot more than a normal person. I think we've gotten so used to underweight that when you are a normal weight it's like, 'Oh, my God, she's curvy.' Which is crazy. The bare minimum, just for me, would be to up the ante. At least so I don't feel like the fattest one."
Lawrence goes on to reveal that she only became interested in fashion when she became a target for the paparazzi, and felt like she had to quickly adapt her wardrobe. "I think I started paying attention to fashion as soon as paparazzi started happening a few years ago," she tells Harper's Bazaar. "I was not ready. I was like, 'What do I wear?' I had to start paying attention. When I turned 25 it got easier because I know, 'This is you, this is not you.' "
As for her spending habits, Lawrence reveals that she buys herself presents now that she is single. When asked what she last bought herself she says, "[a] pair of earrings. I don't have a boyfriend, so I have to do that shit on my own." When asked about her romantic life, she gives a typical Jennifer Lawrence reply and jokes: "Sex? Someone explain to me what it is."
