Ayesha Curry Shares Steph's Favorite Food, Recipe for a Butt-Tightening Coffee Scrub

Like Chrissy Teigen and Kris Jenner before her, Ayesha Curry, wife of Golden State Warriors point guard Steph Curry, has just launched a wildly popular cookbook.

On Wednesday afternoon, Curry celebrated The Seasoned Life ($16) at an intimate gathering held at Tory Burch's new Tory Sport pop-up at the brand's Beverly Hills flagship. Guests were served apps (including curry-infused deviled eggs) from the new book while they perused Tory Sport's offering of upscale prep athleisure — a perfect fit for both, considering wellness is an important component of The Seasoned Life.

A portion of the proceeds from the event were donated to No Kid Hungry, an organization near and dear to Curry's heart, and one that she's been professionally affiliated with for almost two years. "I love that we were able to partner up with No Kid Hungry, I’m a big advocate for them," Curry told Pret-a-Reporter. "There are so many kids right here in our backyards that aren’t eating lunch at school, that aren’t eating breakfast at home because their parents simply can’t give it to them. There are so many ways to help, so many ways to pay it forward, and this is one of them."

We caught up with Curry at the event to talk the recipe that won Steph's heart, daughter Riley's favorite food and the perfect use for your extra coffee grounds that will help you tighten your butt at the same time.

Pret-a-Reporter: Tell me about your book.

Curry: It’s my first cookbook and I’m really excited about it because I have so many friends and family in my life that are just intimidated by the kitchen, and they don’t want to cook because they’re afraid they’re going to mess something up. So I created something super simple and easy filled with over 100 quick and easy recipes that somebody who has never cooked a day in their life can accomplish in under an hour. It’s all home cooked, easy, approachable — especially because I made it for my little girls.

Do your daughters help you out in the kitchen?

My youngest [Ryan] is one, so she’s not quite there yet. But my oldest [Riley] is four and she helps me all the time. It’s how I get her to eat and to try new things. There are studies that show that if you cook with your kids, they’re more apt to try whatever it is they’re making. So it’s how I get her to expand her palate.

Is she a picky eater?

She started to be, but then I made sure that I was involving her and it completely went away, so we’re good for now. But who knows what’s going to happen in the future. I don’t want to jinx myself!

Does she have a favorite recipe?

Yeah, there’s a recipe for kids' chicken tenders — all kids love chicken tenders and nuggets. So I found a way to make it healthy. It’s baked in the oven and it’s only breaded in flaxseed. You really can’t tell the difference.

You have great skin — is there a particular food that you eat that you think helps you maintain that glow?

I go by the motto that whatever you put in your body, you can put on your body. In the book I actually have body scrubs — I have a small chapter called “Pretty Great Extras” which has a recipe for an avocado hair mask and a brown sugar body scrub and coffee grind body scrub that kind of helps you tighten up your butt. I feel like stuff like that really works, but other than that I just make sure I wash my face before I go to bed, because I have a lot of makeup on right now [laughs].

Where did the beauty recipes come from?

It’s stuff I’ve found along the way and have been inspired by, and then I tweaked it and made it my own and kind of simplified it. I feel like a lot of stuff can get difficult and too scientific, so I just kept it simple. It’s kind of like, “if you’re cooking this, use the extras to make this.”
